We are a small family owned and run micro bakery making everything by hand in small batches to guarantee freshness, quality and consistency in every bake and make.
Our purpose built bakery is located in the beautiful & peaceful Scammadale glen in Argyll. Surrounded by bracken covered hills with the river Euchar winding its way through the glen from Scammadale Loch down to Loch Feochan and out into the Sound of Mull.
Nestled in the back garden of our home beside a wee burn which supplies our fresh water the bakery is a bright modern space and 100% vegan. We make everything from scratch using quality ingredients and we also love to forage locally for seasonal fruit, berries and plants such as wild garlic as well as decorative materials for our beautiful celebration cakes.
Our products are baked fresh each morning before being delivered to small local independent businesses in Argyll and our loyal customer base.
Our mission was to create a range of delicious breads, pastries & cakes that are 100% vegan and produced to an excellent standard. With over 40 years of baking experience we have successfully adapted our tried and tested family recipes as well as creating new exciting lines.
We source from small UK producers & businesses where possible and use the finest ingredients many of which are organic. We buy flour & oats from several Scottish mills, our mustard is made in Scotland and our sugar is grown & produced in the UK.
The majority of our packaging is eco-friendly and we source from businesses who care about a sustainable future and offer eco-friendly product lines. We use biodegradable/compostable bags, recyclable/reusable jars & boxes, cane fibre stickers and wild flower seeded paper for our business cards, gift box tags and gift cards. Our ribbons and twines are also 100% biodegradable and made from sustainably sourced wood pulp.
We have lived on the west coast of Scotland for over 16 years and worked in the hospitality sector owning an award winning bar and restaurant on the tiny island of Easdale in the Inner Hebrides.
It was here that we began adapting our bakes and experimenting to cater for different dietary requirements but it was during the COVID 19 lockdown that the bakery business was born. We began supplying bread and cakes to local businesses and every Sunday we would bake and deliver complimentary treats to the island residents to help brighten their day.
When the time came to name our new business venture ‘Sorcha’ (Gaelic for 'light & radiant') was the perfect fit and although our location has changed ever so slightly, we continue to spread joy to our customers!
Our constantly expanding customer base proves that we can all enjoy delicious treats without cruelty to animals! We are a vegan founded business sourcing quality local ingredients whenever possible as well as using as many Scottish and UK suppliers as we can. We produce everything by hand, fresh every morning from our micro bakery in Kilninver, Argyll on the west coast of Scotland.
The best place to buy our products is currently from the the local shops cafes that stock our bakery and products. Alternatively we also have a pop up stall in some local marketplaces.
